01

Introduction to Networking

Discover why networks exist and the devices and links that make them possible.

5 lessons
1What is Networking?See how connected devices communicate, share resources, and reach internet services.2 min2Types of NetworksCompare LAN, WAN, and MAN networks by coverage, ownership, and purpose.2 min3Networking DevicesUnderstand the basic roles of routers, switches, modems, and hubs.2 min4Wired vs Wireless NetworksCompare Ethernet and Wi-Fi for speed, mobility, interference, and deployment.2 min5Benefits of NetworkingConnect networks to file sharing, communication, internet access, and collaboration.2 min
02

Network Fundamentals

Learn the addresses, naming systems, protocols, and packets behind communication.

6 lessons
1What is an IP Address?Understand how logical addresses identify interfaces and guide packets to destinations.2 min2IPv4 vs IPv6Compare the familiar 32-bit IPv4 format with the larger 128-bit IPv6 address space.2 min3MAC Address BasicsLearn how a link-layer address identifies a network interface for local data delivery.2 min4DNS ExplainedSee how the Domain Name System resolves human-friendly names to records such as IP addresses.2 min5Network ProtocolsRecognise HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP as agreed rules for different communication tasks.2 min6Data Packets & TransmissionUnderstand how information is divided, addressed, transmitted, and reassembled.2 min
03

Network Security Basics

Protect network communication with safer practices and layered controls.

5 lessons
1What is a Firewall?Use traffic rules to control which connections may enter or leave a network.2 min2Safe Wi-Fi PracticesReduce wireless risk with strong settings, trusted networks, and careful public access.2 min3VPN BasicsUnderstand encrypted tunnels, VPN endpoints, and the boundaries of VPN protection.2 min4Encryption BasicsProtect network data by transforming plaintext into ciphertext with a key.2 min5Common Network ThreatsRecognise interception, unauthorised access, malicious traffic, and service disruption.2 min
04

Internet & Communication

Connect local networking ideas to global services, cloud systems, and digital communication.

5 lessons
1How the Internet WorksFollow a request across local equipment, service providers, routers, and destination servers.2 min2Client-Server ModelUnderstand how clients request resources and servers respond with services or data.2 min3Cloud Computing BasicsSee how remote computing resources provide storage, software, and processing on demand.2 min4Email Communication ProcessTrace a message from the sender's client through mail servers to the recipient.2 min5Network Troubleshooting BasicsUse a calm, layered process to isolate physical, configuration, and service problems.2 min
05

Practical Networking Skills

Apply the course through setup, inspection, testing, and simulation tasks.

4 lessons
1Setting Up a Home NetworkPlan connections, place equipment, secure wireless access, and connect devices.2 min2Checking IP ConfigurationInspect address, gateway, and DNS information to understand a device's network settings.2 min3Speed & Connectivity TestingUse basic tests to distinguish reachability, latency, and throughput issues.2 min4Introduction to Cisco Packet TracerUse a visual simulator to place devices, create links, and observe packet movement.2 min
